At 25, Zarah Bruhn founded socialbee, a company that has helped thousands of refugees find employment – proving early on how entrepreneurship can solve societal problems. Her commitment took her to the national stage: in 2022, she became Germany's first Commissioner for Social Innovation at the Federal Ministry of Research, and shortly after, the Chancellor appointed her to the Council for Sustainable Development. Today, she leads the Societal Breakthrough Innovations unit at SPRIND – Germany's Federal Agency for Breakthrough Innovations – investing in breakthroughs that fundamentally change the way we live. She takes a global perspective, studying changemakers and radical ideas around the world – innovations that improve millions of lives and save governments billions. Her goal: bringing the best of these ideas to Europe and establishing a new culture of entrepreneurship around the most pressing challenges of our time.
The future changes in leaps – and Zarah Bruhn takes a bold look ahead. From Nobel Peace Prize laureates to super hackers: she reveals how many people are already working on solving our greatest societal challenges – and why innovation is our biggest opportunity. A compelling plea for the positive unknown – and an invitation to take action.
